About Us
About River & Basket
River & Basket is an independent reference site focused on one narrow subject: keeping common houseplants healthy in Canadian apartments through the long heating season. The material is organised around the three indoor variables that change most in cold months — light, watering rhythm and humidity.
What this site is
The guides are written in plain language for people growing plants in ordinary apartments, not greenhouses. They favour observation and no-cost technique over equipment, and they stay within general, widely accepted horticultural practice rather than presenting novel claims.
How the content is prepared
Each guide is written for the indoor conditions typical of Canadian cities during heating season. Where outside reading is useful, the site links to recognised public organisations such as the Royal Botanical Gardens and Health Canada. The site avoids invented statistics and unattributed figures; where exact numbers are uncertain, the text uses neutral descriptions instead.
What this site is not
It is not a shop and does not sell plants, tools or memberships. It does not diagnose plant disease or pest infestations remotely, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified horticulturist, agronomist or local garden centre when a specific plant problem is involved.
